Academic achievement is evaluated with the full marks 100 by synthesizing learning progress, online exams (midterm/finals), tasks, discussion and participation in learning (including bulletin board), and the percent applied of individual evaluated factors depend on the evaluation plans of the professor who teaches the relevant course.

As a rule, academic achievement should be subject to relative evaluation. However, it is allowed to apply absolute evaluation to the courses with less than 30 students registered, pre-licensing courses and other special courses.

Evaluation of academic achievement assumes that 75% or higher attendance is reached in the entire courses during the semester.

For special courses such as practices and technical training, separate criteria for evaluation can be set up.

Relative Evaluation Relative evaluation is defined as the method of evaluation intended to compare the learning results of a student with those of other students in a certain course in terms of his or her relative position in the class. Relatively evaluated courses should comply with the allowable percentage distribution of grade point average as given below. For the reason, even though you get a good score, your grade or actual mark (grade point average) will be lower, if the number of students getting higher scores is larger.

[Grade-specific percentage distributions]

Grade Marks Grade point average Percentage distribution
A+ 95-100 4.5 20~30
A 90~94 4.0
B+ 85~89 3.5 20~40
B 80~84 3.0
C+ 75~79 2.5 30~70
C 70~74 2.0
D+ 65~69 1.5
D 60~64 1.0
F 59이하 0.0
Absolute Evaluation Absolute evaluation refers to an evaluation method of regarding an originally got score as its finally calculated mark. The lower original score equivalent to the total of marks for items leads to the lower actual mark.
